Some visitors to the San Diego Zoo in Southern California saw something they didn’t expect to see when an Andean bear decided to start bouncing on a branch in its exhibit, and the branch broke, sending the bear tumbling. Several onlookers caught the moment on video, which is now going viral on social media.

“So scary!! We just watched a bear fall at the @San Diego Zoo,” wrote Britt Mezzanares in her TikTok caption sharing the video. (Although Mezzanares adds the hashtag #slothbear to her caption, the animal appears to be an Andean bear, not a sloth bear.)
Based on the visitors’ reaction, we assume the bear wasn’t injured in the fall.
