Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue is a volunteer wildlife rescue service based in the United Kingdom, and the organization pulls off some wonderful rescues. One recent wildlife rescue involved an animal stuck in a car engine. Before the organization shared the full story, it asked the community on Facebook to guess what may have been stuck in the engine. However, no one guessed correctly.
“Tonight our volunteers have completed an incredibly intricate rescue from a vehicle engine,” Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue wrote in its Facebook post. “Can you guess what the rescue was for? Put your guesses in the comments!”
Guesses included animals like snakes, cats/kittens, and hedgehogs.
The next day, the rescue posted the full story and revealed the animal they saved from the engine bay.

It was an otter! To get the otter out, Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said:
“We first wrapped the vehicle in our extra-large deer net to prevent [the otter] from running out under the vehicle and into the nearby busy main road. Then, after multiple failed attempts, we finally managed to bring him to safety through all the various engine parts and straight into our travel box.”
Can you imagine getting an otter stuck in your engine?
